What’s the deal with Miles Morales’ evil variant?

The cliffhanger ending of Across the Spider-Verse left our Miles Morales stuck on an alternate Earth as a prisoner of a variant of his late uncle, Aaron Davis, and an evil version of Miles himself (Jharrel Jerome), who has assumed Davis’ previous supervillain persona, The Prowler. How did that happen? We can infer from the memorial to Miles’ dad, Jefferson, that he perished instead of Aaron, which is the opposite of how things played out for Miles in Into the Spider-Verse.
Aaron’s variant in this movie is seen giving money to Miles’ mother, Rio, to help support her. He also speaks to Miles as if he and Miles’ variant are criminal partners in this world. That’s probably why the Miles of this world has so thoroughly embraced villainy. Jerome’s performance also gives the Miles variant a much heavier accent than our Miles has in his native world. The only reason why Miles came to this world is because the spider that bit him was also from this version of Earth. The Spider Society’s Go Home Machine mistakenly read the DNA of the spider instead of Miles’ when it was deciding which planet to send him to.
The real question now is whether the variants of Aaron and Miles are capable of the type of redemption that Miles’ uncle Aaron experienced in Into the Spider-Verse? It’s certainly possible, but not necessarily probable.
Who is Spooderman?
Spooderman, or Spoderman/Spodermen, refers to an image of a poorly drawn recreation of Spider-Man using MS Paint, and the style quickly got picked up as a meme to use for comedy.
The drawing first appeared online around 2012 and fans began adding their own text to the image including misspelled names of comic-book characters and villains.
Spooderman has also become a recurring character on the comic web series, Dolan, where the creator recreates Disney characters on MS Paint.
Sony previously released a second poster for Across the Spider-Verse featuring a number of the project’s characters, and one potion of the web included a clear reimagining of Spooderman – making the meme canon.

Who is on Gwen’s new spider team?

By the end of the movie, Gwen was exiled from the Spider Society — kicked out of the band, so to speak. So she got her own band together. It happens so quickly on-screen that you may not have caught every character. Unsurprisingly, Gwen reached out to her friends from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to join her team and search for Miles. So while Spider-Ham and Spider-Man Noir were largely absent from the film, they’ll be back for Beyond the Spider-Verse alongside Peter B. Parker and his daughter, Mayday, as well as Spider-Man India, Spider-Punk, and Spider-Byte.
Presumably, Miles will join the team as well, once they catch up to him. And with Spider-Man 2099’s Spider Society still out hunting for Miles, a massive spider hero clash is likely on the horizon.

Since Across the Spider-Verse will be including many generations of the web-slinger, we feel it’s important to know when this adventure takes place.
The sequel takes place “some years” after Into the Spider-Verse, as it’s clear a significant amount of time has passed between both films because Miles is taller sporting a more muscular physique.
The web-slinger’s voice is also deeper and Chris Miller previously referred to Miles as a teenager during YouTube’s Premium Afterparty, suggesting the teen is around 17 years old in Across the Spider-Verse.

One of the benefits of making two movies back-to-back is that the cast tends to be consistent. Such is the case here, as Shameik Moore will be back as Miles Morales, alongside Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Morales, Luna Lauren Vélez as Rio Morales, Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099/Miguel O’Hara, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, Get Out‘s Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, Karan Soni (Deadpool) as Spider-Man India, Shea Whigham as Captain George Stacy, and Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan Ohnn/The Spot.
Given the ending of Across the Spider-Verse, Kimiko Glenn, Nicolas Cage, and John Mulaney will likely be back as Peni Parker, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Ham, respectively. It would be a huge mistake not to have them.

As with the earlier Spider-Verse movies, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse features Marvel characters and was co-produced by Marvel Entertainment — which is a separate entity from Marvel Studios entirely — but it is actually a Sony Pictures Animation/Columbia Pictures movie. As to whether or not it’s connected to the MCU…? Well, there is a Spider-Verse out there, right…?

What is the Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man meme?
The Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man meme is probably the most iconic Spidey meme there is, referring to an image from the Spider-Man animated cartoon from the 1960s.
The scene comes from episode 19b of the 1967 series, titled Double Identity, which shows one of the wall crawler’s villains attempting to impersonate him.
The meme shows two identical Spider-Men standing in a warehouse in front of an NYPD van pointing at each other and grew popular in the mid-2010s when people would add text to the image for humor.
The three Spider-Man from the popular No Way Home movie in the MCU, featuring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland, recreated the meme behind the scenes.
In the recent Across the Spider-Verse trailer, a scene near the end shows a number of animated Spider-Men, including the PS4 version, pointing at each other to recreate the meme.

When is the Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse release date?

Let’s get this out of the way first. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was originally scheduled to be released on March 29, 2024, before Sony took it off its release calendar altogether amid a number of re-schedulings of upcoming movies. As things currently stand, it’s unknown when the movie will appear.
According to Sony, the reason for the delay is that the SAG-AFTRA strike means that actors are unable to complete their voice work on the movie. The reality may be more complicated than that, however. As recently as early June, Hailee Steinfeld was telling reporters that she hadn’t even started recording anything for the second movie, while a May profile of writers and producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord revealed that the story for the third movie was unfinished, with Miller admitting, “the middle is still a little squishy.” Even in that profile, the possibility that the movie could be delayed was raised.

These reports should also be taken in context with an expose of the working conditions animators experience on Across the Spider-Verse, which revealed that animators were expected to create and re-create work on a near-impossible deadline because of last-minute writing changes, with one animator describing working “more than 11 hours a day, seven days a week,” and another saying, “I know people who were on the project for over a year who left, and now they have little to show for it because everything was changed. They went through the hell of the production and then got none of their work coming out the other side.”
With so much of Beyond the Spider-Verse seemingly unfinished by the time the movie’s removal from the calendar was announced (July 28, 2023), it’s possible that animators are looking at an even more intense crunch if the film is to be released in 2024 at all — or perhaps the entire thing will move to 2025 or beyond. Sorry, Miles.
Will the multiverse really collapse if The Spot doesn’t kill Miles’ dad?

Across the Spider-Verse puts forth the intriguing idea that the lives of Spider-Men and Spider-Women are defined by ongoing tragedies rather than the inciting tragedy that sparked their desire to be heroes. Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben almost always dies to inspire him to be a hero, although Peter’s Aunt May occasionally fills that role as well. The surprising part is that multiple Spideys lose the police captain in their lives. George Stacy, Gwen’s father and a police captain, has apparently died many times to fulfil that part of destiny.
For Miles, the stakes are higher because his police captain is also his father, Jefferson Morales. And according to Spider-Man 2099, if Miles saves his father from The Spot, then the multiverse (or Spider-Verse, if you prefer) may collapse. This is the major source of tension heading into Beyond the Spider-Verse. Gwen and Miles believe that this tragic destiny can be averted. But we’ll have to wait 10 months to find out if they are right.
Who is in the Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse cast?

Currently, only two cast members have been officially confirmed for the third installment of the series: Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan Ohnn/The Spot.
It’s a relatively safe bet that we can expect appearances from the following, however:
