После первых шести серий я стал взахлеб рассказывать семье, друзьям и незнакомцам в интернете про великолепную анимацию, отлично поданную историю, шикарный дизайн мира и персонажей. Про общий драйв и гармоничность повествования, про судьбы двух городов и их обитателей из вселенной League of Legends. Когда я досмотрел последнюю, девятую серию первого сезона… Эмоции испарились. Эта концовка… Окей, я обещал, что обойдусь без спойлеров. Просто скажу, что второй сезон хочется увидеть в ближайшую субботу, а не через год, два или три.
То, что сезон так закончился, — пожалуй, это действительно главный минус Arcane. Мой коллега писал: можно, чтобы Riot всех обманули и такие: «Ха-ха-ха! И второй, а потом и третий сезон Arcane были в работе уже четыре года, в каждом по 25 серий». Потому что иначе я не понимаю, как дожить до второго сезона. Если серьезно, то Arcane — настоящий шедевр. Так вышло, что у меня есть опыт работы в кинопродакшене, в том числе анимационном. Я неплохо разбираюсь в теории сценарного мастерства и сторителлинга. У меня есть знакомые, крутые ребята из этих сфер — профессионалы мирового уровня. Поэтому я могу понять, насколько поистине великую работу проделали ребята из Riot и Fortiche. Низкий поклон, плюс мольбы не затягивать с продолжением истории, сохраняя при этом задранную планку.
Более того, в отзывах умудренных опытом коллег я открыл для себя вещи, о которых даже не задумывался при просмотре: например, выверенные противопоставления архитектурных стилей Пилтовера и Зауна, подчеркивающие натуры городов и их жителей. И ведь я наверняка еще не все нюансы и пасхалки высмотрел и вычитал в отзывах. Поистине монументальная работа создателей!
Кстати, ни слова не написал про саундтрек сериала. И не буду писать. Я просто добавил его к себе в библиотеку. Собственно, этот отзыв я пишу под музыку из Arcane. Допишу и пойду пересматривать клипы, отзывы аудитории, которые и стали спустя годы причинами сделать один из величайших анимационных сериалов. Многие из этих клипов, кстати, были созданы все той же студией Fortiche. Если вы все еще сомневаетесь, стоит ли смотреть Arcane, просто взгляните на клип ниже и почитайте свежие комментарии. Только от них такие мурашки по коже, ух!
What is Arcane about?
Arcane is tell the origin story of Jinx and her sister Vi.
The League of Legends series will explore the sisters’ childhood in Piltover and Zaun, and explore the twin cities. Piltover is the upper-side utopia, while Zaun is the mean streets, and is Runeterra’s dystopian underbelly.
In current day LoL lore, Jinx and Vi are less than friends. The sisters throw snide remarks at each other and Jinx taunts her sibling whenever they meet. Jinx has become an infamous Zaun terrorist and Vi is a Piltover sheriff. The show will explore how the two sisters got to their modern-day relationship (or lack thereof).
Dexerto also expects loads of other popular Zaun and Piltover champions to appear in the upcoming animated series.

LoL Arcane cast
Netflix has released eight character posters for the upcoming Riot Games-led animated series, confirming several big names for the project.
The biggest name among them is Hailee Steinfield (Bumblebee, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), who will be playing Jinx’s sister Vi. The lead character herself, Jinx, will be played by Ella Purnell, who recently starred in fantasy/adventure flick Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
Vi (Steinfield), Jinx (Purnell), and Jayce (Alejandro) appear to be the show’s lead characters.
Game of Thrones alum Harry Lloyd will appear as a young Viktor, while Harry Potter star Katie Leung will play sheriff Caitlyn.

События в картине будут развиваться согласно оригинальному сюжету − в Пилтовере и Зауне. Зрителям расскажут историю происхождения двух ключевых персонажей − Вай и Джинкс. Судьбы двух героинь пересекутся, открыв миру историю знакомства, которому суждено перетечь в противостояние. Кроме того, аудитория увидит новых героев − Вандер и Силко.
Впервые многопользовательская игра League of Legends была запущена в 2009 году, собрав внушительную фанатскую базу. За ее производство отвечала компания Riot Games. Именно она выступила разработчиком долгожданной адаптации совместно со студией Fortiche Productions. Для тех, кто не в курсе, в основе предстоящего сериала лежит сюжет командной стратегической игры, в которой сражаются две команды. That “quality animation” that Linke alludes to is part of Arcane’s appeal. Riot wanted its animated series to have a distinct art style that was neither cartoonish or realistic. After a lengthy search, Riot chose Fortiche Productions, a small Paris-based studio who specializes in creating animated projects with a unique blend of 2D and 3D art. The result is a visually striking, painterly style that sets Arcane apart from other animated shows.
“We wanted something that felt boutique but also cinematic,” Linke reveals. “We could’ve gone with a bigger studio, but I don’t think you can teach what Fortiche created. That visual style, married with a human touch, gives you a real feeling that people have crafted this. You get a sense that there’s someone there filming with a handheld camera, which gives Arcane an imperfect human aesthetic. It’s fascinating to me that 14 people could pull off this unique style and we immediately fell in love with it.”
An animated show like Arcane can be stunning to look at but, unless it’s populated with interesting, morally complex characters, it may feel one dimensional. Even then, justice may not be done to its eclectic mix of characters without the right voice actors.
So it’s satisfying that Arcane’s cast feels like the right fit for their characters. Steinfeld brings an intensity that’s befitting of Vi’s persona, while Ella Purnell’s performance as Jinx is suitably chaotic for such an explosive individual.

But stepping into the shoes of these beloved champions was something of a pressure situation for some of Arcane’s cast. Unsurprisingly, LoL fans are very protective of the series’ characters, so putting a new spin on its champions had the capacity to alienate them – and potentially lead to criticism of each actor’s portrayal. As Purnell explains, though, Riot’s backing of its cast gave them the confidence to bring something novel to their performances.
“There’s so much stuff about Jinx online,” Purnell says. “People love this character, so it was interesting to read all these conspiracy theories about her past. And it’s mildly terrifying to step into her shoes as everybody has an idea of what you should do or sound like. But the show’s creators were great. They made these characters, so we had plenty of extensive conversations about my approach to Jinx.”
“You know there’s gonna be pressure,” Katie Leung, who plays Caitlyn, adds. “People have preconceived notions of who Caitlyn is but, if you try to please everybody, that’s a recipe for disaster. Before I recorded my lines, Christian and Alex explained her huge backstory to me, which helped me get into character. I felt super supported as an actor and, as long as they’re happy, that’s the main thing.”

При просмотре я вообще не ассоциировал Arcane с игрой от Riot.
Если сравнивать два мультсериала по MOBA-играм, то Valve проиграла «войну» своим конкурентам. Первый сезон аниме по Dota 2 был блеклым, повествование казалось слишком дерганным, а герои — недостаточно раскрытыми. Жаль, что второй сезон Arcane придется ждать минимум два года. Скорее всего, за это время я пересмотрю все эпизоды минимум два-три раза. Слишком уж сильные чувства вызвал сценарий.

Если серьезно, то единственное, что всего месяц назад связывало меня с League of Legends, — старенький музыкальный клип про Джинкс, засмотренный до дыр еще в 2013 году. Совсем недавно я не знала и крупицы лора Лиги и не собиралась в нем разбираться. Планы резко поменялись после просмотра Arcane. Если вы так же, как и я раньше, переживаете, что ничего не поймете, то можете смело отбросить свои страхи и приступить к просмотру.
В Arcane нет лишних элементов и затянутых сцен — на них просто не хватило бы времени, ведь лор вселенной дополняется уже много лет. А что есть в Arcane — так это яркие персонажи, истории которых трогают за душу, а потом без предупреждения разбивают зрителю сердце. Могу только представить, какие эмоции они вызывают у фанатов игры. Я так и не определилась, за какую сторону конфликта переживала больше — тут нет банального «добра и зла» и антагонистов, которые совершают плохие поступки с мотивацией «мы же злодейские злодеи — любим делать зло!» Нет, больно будет за всех и до самого конца.
Отдельно хочется отметить решение оставить концовку сезона открытой. Радует, что сценаристы не поддались тенденции разжевывать историю за зрителя, а решили оставить место для рассуждений. Никаких спойлеров, но скажу одно — недосказанность играет на руку развитию сюжета и забрасывает хороший крючок для второго сезона. Который, к слову, уже анонсировали. Ждем Варвика! Единственный совет: если знания английского позволяют, то лучше смотреть сериал в оригинале или с русскими субтитрами. Голоса русской озвучки подобраны крайне неудачно и блекнут на фоне с оригиналом. А Виктор без узнаваемого акцента — так и вовсе кощунство!

Leaving a legacy

As Riot Games’ maiden non-game project, there’s plenty riding on Arcane’s possible success. If it resonates with LoL’s fanbase, there’s the potential for similar productions – based on other Riot properties, including Valorant and Legends of Runeterra – to receive similar movie or TV treatments.
There’s no guarantee, however, that Arcane will wow audiences. The Netflix series has been split into three distinct parts, with Act 1’s three-episode arc the only one to be released so far. Act 2’s three episodes will arrive on Netflix on November 12, before Act 3’s final three entries land on November 19.
So it’ll be another two weeks before fans of Riot’s multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title can offer their definitive verdict on Arcane. Should it prove to be successful, it could leave a legacy that’s as lasting as LoL itself, but it’ll be a fortnight before Riot and LoL fans will know for sure.
Still, Linke and Yee are hopeful that Arcane will be well received. Its expansion on LoL’s source material, coupled with its prequel story, means that it doesn’t step on lore that’s already established in the MOBA. And, with Riot at its helm, Arcane doesn’t diverge too much from what’s made League of Legends such a beloved series.
“There’s a lot of lore and story that’s been created for League of Legends, even beyond what you can see in their character biographies,” Yee says. “It was a goal of ours to make this show, create a new story, build on the identity of these characters and make them relatable. There are core aspects of our champions that people don’t know, and now I think we’ve done justice to that side of them.”
“These are games that we’ve loved for 12 years,” Linke adds. “We’d wanted to tell this story for a while, but it took us a while to have the guts to do it. It was a question of whether we could make this work, and I think we have done .”
Arcane Part 1 is out now on Netflix. Parts 2 and 3 will launch on the streaming service on November 12 and November 19 respectively.

Это приятная картинка, которая не отталкивает, отличная рисовка и анимации, которые радуют глаз. Чем-то подобным славятся Disney и Pixar, но ждать такого в мире гейминга было чуть труднее.
Главные и второстепенные герои, пейзажи, планы — это реально захватывает дух. Вам наверняка понравится сюжет. Тем интереснее, что финал может породить острые дискуссии, разделив зрителей на два лагеря. Arcane способна вызвать бурю эмоций: восторг от финала может стать настоящей эпопеей, хотя стоит предупредить, что последняя серия способна разрушить ожидания зрителей.
«Аркейн» не имеет особенных рамок — неважно, сколько вам лет или какого вы пола. Если вы не знакомы с миром игры, вам все объяснят в первых трех сериях — да так, что игроки не назовут это скучным или вторичным
Не играете в игры? Даже это сериал способен простить. Действительно яркий проект для любой аудитории. Проект, который только набирает обороты! Ждем 2023-й?
