Rey and Kylo Ren in new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker poster

Though the new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer shown at Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday hasn’t been made available publicly, Lucasfilm has released a new poster for the upcoming ninth chapter of the space opera franchise, featuring Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) duelling with lightsabers while Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) looms large over the two. The new Rise of Skywalker poster is also the first look at the return of the Emperor, who was believed dead after the events of Return of the Jedi.
What the new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker poster doesn’t give away is the fact that Rey will wield a double-bladed red lightsaber, similar to the one used by Darth Maul. The red colour is indicative of Rey’s possible turn to the dark side of the Force — and an influence of the Sith. Set aside the fact that Darth Maul was a Sith Lord, The Rise of Skywalker is being set up as the final chapter of the nine-film Skywalker saga, which means it also has to conclude the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith.
In addition to releasing a new poster and showing off a trailer to D23 attendees, Lucasfilm also brought out The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams and much of the cast on stage on Saturday in California. Abrams reiterated that Carrie Fisher’s Leia Organa is the heart of the story, while Anthony Daniels — who plays C-3PO — said “it’s very hard that Star Wars is ending. But what an ending.”

Keri Russell, who plays Zorri Bliss, one of the new characters on The Rise of Skywalker, said she was so excited to join the Star Wars family, primarily because “my son actually thinks I’m cool now”. She described her character as “shady, kind of a criminal, and sort of this old friend of Poe ‘s”, played by Oscar Isaac.
Billy Dee Williams, who returns to play Lando Calrissian from the original Star Wars trilogy, said: “Lando has never left me. I’ve been here all these 40 years and it’s been a very special experience for me.”
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is out December 20 in India and around the world.

They Wanted To Use Body Doubles For Kylo Ren
The immensely popular Disney+ TV series The Mandalorian features a character permanently donned in a helmet. It’s a cool look for the titular hero, but it also serves another purpose — it allows body doubles to do the work when the show’s lead actor is off playing Shakespeare.
Yep, although Pedro Pascal might be credited as the hero of The Mandalorian, that’s not always him under the mask, as a recent interview with series director Bryce Dallas Howard revealed.
“He was in rehearsals for King Lear on Broadway,” Howard said. “And so, while we were doing my episode, I wasn’t working with Pedro.”
Inspired by that news, fans of Star Wars have begun guessing that the decision to revive Kylo’s helmet was motivated by practicalities, and that it made it easier to shoot around Adam Driver’s hectic schedule.
To be honest, that’s probably not right. Driver would have had The Rise of Skywalker on his schedule for a long time — these big-budget movies block out huge sections of their actors’ time way ahead of production. In fact, those strict timetables do more to explain why the film was so rushed: after The Rise of Skywalker‘s original director Colin Trevorrow was fired, production had a matter of days to replace him.
So nope, probably not body doubles.
The Force
How the hell can Luke grab a lightsaber? If he can grab it, couldn’t he turn it on and just… like fight real people?
The extent of Force ghosts’ ability to interact with the physical world has never been made clear — Obi-Wan Kenobi sat on a rock in Return of the Jedi. It’s likely they can selectively manipulate and make contact with stuff.
And if that’s the case couldn’t every single Jedi just come back and gang up the Emperor?
They kinda did, by giving Rey the final push to kill him.
If a necklace and lightsaber can travel through Rey and Kylo Ren’s Force connection (space Skype) sessions, why can’t Kylo?
Rey and Ben Solo formed a dyad, so they were the center of the connection rather than the objects they touch. Also, teleporting would have kinda broken the universe.

Why did Leia and Ben disappear? What does that mean?
They had both fulfilled their destinies and become one with the Force. I think I’ll have fulfilled my destiny after writing this article.
What happened to the Force-using kid at the end of The Last Jedi?
The little boy who pulls the broom to himself is probably still a slave on Canto Bight, which sucks. Maybe Rey will go there to liberate him, as she seeks Force-sensitive young ‘uns to train as the next generation of Jedi.
Finn doesn’t find romance in The Rise of Skywalker, but there are a number of possibilities. Including Poe Dameron.
Disney
Why making Rey a nobody never made sense
If this was truly Rey’s saga, it would have made more sense for her to be a nobody, but Disney has been big on referring to this as the conclusion of the Skywalker saga.
Lucasfilm
Rey was so connected in the Force to Ben, Leia, and Luke in «The Last Jedi» that it would have been odd if she wasn’t related to someone in the «Star Wars» universe, if not all three of them. Her raw, untapped power seemed too great for Lucasfilm to suddenly introduce a new lineage seven films into the «Star Wars» franchise.
If this was one of Disney’s «Star Wars» spin-off films or franchises, I wouldn’t have had any issue with Rey being an outsider. But Lucasfilm introduced Rey into the Skywalker saga. It wouldn’t make sense with the 40-plus years of history to dismiss the Skywalker family in its series of films; it would have been disrespectful. If she wasn’t connected to them in some way, it wouldn’t have made sense.

If you wanted to learn more about the Knights of Ren and Kylo’s uprising, a new Star Wars Marvel comic miniseries is coming to answer those questions.
How did Ben Solo become Kylo Ren?
We got the short version of the story in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Ben had dark thoughts brewing in him and was finally pushed over the edge when his mentor and uncle Luke Skywalker came to the brink of striking him down.

Yet, we all know there is so much more to that story.
Why wasn’t Ben satisfied with his life? What events led him to seeking out the dark side? And just who are the Knights of Ren?
It seems many of those questions are going to be answered in a new mini-series from Marvel Comics, The Rise of Kylo Ren. It will be written by Charles Soule, who was was the mastermind behind the highly acclaimed Darth Vader series, it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con.
Soule’s tweet says we’re not ready.
And we might not be, but it is exactly the story Star Wars fans need right now. It’s expected to be out in December just in time for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Kylo Ren’s rise and Ben Solo’s fall is important to the tale. As the grandson of Darth Vader, he’s followed a similar track in his path to the dark side. We got a movie trilogy to explain Anakin’s descent, and hopefully a four-part comic series will be able to do the trick.
The comic series should provide context we haven’t been able to get otherwise. While we know Ben Solo’s pedigree, we don’t actually know what caused his fall. We can speculate that he didn’t feel loved enough or that the dark side was just too strong in him. Perhaps he was weak-minded and susceptible to manipulation.
The Rise of Kylo Ren will give us a clearer picture.
I also think the title is interesting because it focuses more on Kylo Ren and his rise to power than than the fall of Ben Solo. While the two are similar, they’re not exactly the same thing.
While we will finally learn more about the Knights of Ren, it feels as though Star Wars fans are being short changed a bit by not getting to see them too much in the movies. While they’re supposed to play a role in The Rise of Skywalker, getting them for only one movie when they were highly touted before the sequel trilogy comes as a bit of a disappointment.
It’s similar to what Lucasfilm did with Phasma. On screen we didn’t get much to her, but it wasn’t until the pages of books and comics that we finally got to learn more about the layered and dynamic woman walking around in a chrome stormtrooper uniform.
Now, we will get to learn just how grisly the Knights of Ren are.
Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren is scheduled to release in December.
Rey
Where did Rey learn the healing trick?
She took the ancient Jedi texts from Ahch-To in The Last Jedi (you can see them in a drawer on the Millennium Falcon), and the novelization confirms she learned it there.
«Her breath came fast, her very bones ached with weariness, and unaccountably, her hand stung,»Healing the vexis had felt so normal and natural and right. But it had cost her.»
If it’s the end of the Skywalker saga, why is Rey a Skywalker now?
She presumably wanted to pay tribute to the two people who taught her the ways of the Force, and the name «Skywalker» was less likely to get her murdered than «Palpatine.» Also, it leaves the door open for
Disney
to make more Skywalker Saga movies if they so please.
Luke Skywalker uses a green lightsaber to battle Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine in Return of the Jedi, but we don’t know where this weapon is after The Rise of Skywalker.
Lucasfilm
Most importantly, it fits into George Lucas’ rhyme scheme
I truly had no idea where this third trilogy was going or what its arc was until Rey was revealed to be a Palpatine. Now it all makes more sense.
Getty Images
At its heart, «Star Wars» has always been about Palpatine versus Skywalker. Everything that has happened to the Skywalker family, including Anakin’s creation, was because of the Sith’s obsession with trying to create life from the Force. (Depending on whether you follow canon before Disney purchased Lucasfilm or afterward, Anakin was created in one of two ways: He was either willed into being because of Palpatine’s master, Plagueis, or, according to how you interpret Marvel’s 2018 comic Vader issue No. 25, Palpatine directly or indirectly had a hand in creating Anakin.)
Either way, as Abrams said, why wouldn’t you have Palpatine appear in a third trilogy in some way? The two are directly connected. It seems one can’t exist without the other.
Lucas always intended for «Star Wars» to rhyme like poetry. If Kylo Ren was the grandson of a great power that originated on the light side of the Force, then it makes sense that his counterpart would be the granddaughter of another great power that originated on the dark side of the Force.

They’re mirrors, something that’s perfectly captured on the cover of «The Art of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.'»
This artwork becomes clearer after watching «The Rise of Skywalker.»
Abrams Books
That’s why I don’t see Rey’s origin as lazy writing. When you look at the trilogy as a whole, it’s just another stanza in a larger poem that often repeats and has parallels.
Anakin destroyed the droid command center in «Episode I» similarly to how his son, Luke, later blew up the Death Star in «Episode IV.» Lucas said that was on purpose. Similarly, it doesn’t surprise me that Rey was hidden on another planet for her safety in the same way that Luke and Leia were hidden from Vader years before.
The larger payoff for me is looking at the mirroring stories that the prequel trilogy («Episodes I-III») and the sequel trilogy («Episodes VII-IX») tell.

The Skywalker saga started with a descent to the dark side and ends with a rise to the light.
Lucasfilm
The prequels introduce us to a young Force-sensitive boy who is assumed to be the chosen one to bring balance to the Force. Instead of becoming one of the greatest Jedi, he becomes one of the greatest (if not the greatest) Sith Lords. In «Return of the Jedi» («Episode VI») he is arguably the last Sith to fall before peace and order are restored to the galaxy for a brief time. (While Vader technically died a Jedi because he sacrificed himself during his final moments for his son, I believe it’s fair to say Vader «killed» the last of the Sith to bring back Anakin in the same way that Obi-Wan said Vader «killed» Anakin.)
The sequel trilogy introduces us to an older Force-sensitive young woman who is assumed to be a nobody. Instead of becoming the Sith empress that Palpatine wants her to be, she ends the series as one of the greatest and most powerful Jedi. She is also, as far as we know, the last Jedi.
In «Star Wars,» it always comes full circle.
Content:
The Jedi Temple of Luke Skywalker is on fire and the recently returning Padawan Hennix, Tai and Voe are shocked, they don’t even feel the presence of the Jedi Master himself anymore. The only one they meet in front of the burning ruins, completely dissolved and resigned, is Ben Solo who claims Master Luke attacked him. The three budding Jedi don’t believe him and fight, but Ben is stronger than expected and finally he manages to escape. He goes to a distant world to confer with the mysterious Snoke, whom he tells that he wants to visit the Knights of Ren. Ben has met them before, when he – still a boy – and Luke visited an old Jedi outpost on Elphrona, which dates back to the wedding of the Republic. Again he ends up at said temple before he meets the knights of Ren and their leader on Varnak. However, he has strict guidelines for accepting new knights into his elite caste …
Also, Palpatine had a son!?
It seems so!

In the «Star Wars» expanded universe, a mutant with three eyes and white hair named Triclops was created using Palpatine’s DNA. It’s worth noting that Triclops worked in spice mines. I bring that up because it’s randomly mentioned in «TROS» that Poe used to be a spice runner. Maybe he knew Rey’s father. Honestly, though, that detail may not mean much, since none of this is technically canon anymore since Disney purchased Lucasfilm.
For what it’s worth, the son mentioned in «TROS» is never named and doesn’t have white hair. He’s unlikely Triclops and instead is an original creation of Lucasfilm. Though we don’t get any real information on Rey’s parents from «Episode IX,» I’m sure Disney already has some book or Disney Plus show ready to explain more about Palpatine’s mystery offspring. (You don’t just hire Jodie Comer to play Rey’s mother for a few moments, right?)
Did Kenobi know about Rey? He speaks to her throughout the sequel trilogy as well.
Lucasfilm
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is explored more in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi show or one of the future «Star Wars» movies. Other than Luke, Rey heard Kenobi’s voice in her head more than any other Jedi in her «Force Awakens» Force vision. McGregor’s voice specifically called out to her when she reached out to Luke’s lightsaber, saying these were her first steps. Again, in «TROS» he can be heard telling Rey «these are your final steps» when battling Palpatine, suggesting he knew of her existence and was a guardian angel of sorts.
For all we know, it was Kenobi who suggested hiding Rey away on Jakku so she couldn’t be found, in the same way he helped hide Leia and Luke Skywalker from their father.

Review:
In fact, I had Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren Has been on my agenda for a long time, is the original release of the four-part miniseries The Rise of Kylo Ren After all, it’s almost a year ago now, but as a German fan you’re used to – and ready – to wait (and yes, I know that I could have read the story in booklet form much earlier). So I was so excited about the tape, because I think Kylo Ren aka Ben Solo in the films is a very exciting and pleasantly ambivalent character, who certainly could have been made much more, but which is also much more exciting than some Protagonist who, due to the bumpy development history of the trilogy, seems to have been given away recently, which cannot necessarily be said of Kylo. Nevertheless, there are some mysteries, riddles and omissions about its genesis, which you now get roughly presented in this four-parter, even if it is more of a small, if formative excerpt from what Ben made Kylo become.
Just the fact that the films keep talking about the Knights of Ren – who got absolutely nothing to do, apart from looking cool at times – and Ben uses to call himself Kylo Ren, gave me a lot of puzzles , in which The rise of Kylo Ren actually able to remedy the situation. Otherwise, the introduction to the knights is just as successful as the opening scene with Ben, in which we see him in front of the burning Jedi Temple of Luke, before the oppressive moment is interrupted by the arrival of three budding Jedi who cannot grasp which picture offers itself to them. By the way, artist Will Sliney also plays here (Galaxy’s Edge – Das Sith-Relikt) develops his qualities early on and creates some impressive, memorable and imposing panels, so that you can definitely say that you have found exactly the right person for the job with him, to illustrate the genesis of Kylo Ren. Unfortunately, this quality does not last consistently and precisely where it would be important, namely to stage Ben’s conflicting emotions, unfortunately Sliney sometimes overshoots the mark with exaggerated facial expressions and gestures, even if the band is optically located in the upper third may be.
The actual story, meanwhile, is surprisingly nested for its brevity, but on closer inspection it is unfortunately not particularly complex, especially since here, too, some pages “have to” be used to advertise the “High Republic”, as has already been done in The path of fate has been the case. Nevertheless, author Charles Soule of course basically knows how to tell his stories and again delivers convincing food, which for me just held some enlightening moments in terms of the incomplete vita of our fickle antihero. Nevertheless, in the narrow framework of a four-part story, he is of course nowhere near answering all the questions, and the trip to Snoke, who has apparently been in telepathic contact with Ben from childhood, is fascinating and interesting in itself – especially the setting where the meeting takes place – but offers little further information about its role. On the other hand, the few scenes with Luke are really strong – and certainly expandable – whether these are flashbacks or dream sequences, especially since he is visually hit very well by Sliney and has the charisma of a wise, but also disillusioned Jedi master.
Surely there would be a lot more to do in some corners The rise of Kylo Ren can get out, but with the result you can without question live well and for my part I liked the story, especially since it is quite cleverly constructed and nested in one another, which always creates tension, especially since this structure also offers space in to look back at the time when Luke’s Jedi Temple had not yet fallen victim to the flames and from this time there is really not much material, while the narrative gaps between episode VI and episode VII are only closed very hesitantly when one looks at the previous canon publications consults. The final cover gallery is meanwhile meager and comes up with only four works of art, one of which is already emblazoned on the front of the anthology, but that can hardly be blamed for publication. What is far more annoying is that at one point a double-sided panel has actually been torn in two and accordingly hardly comes into its own if you have to constantly scroll back and forth in order to at least roughly grasp the extent of this – theoretically epic – moment. That could have been solved happier and fortunately I have never met this before. Another curiosity worth mentioning on the side is the cross-reference to the novel Skywalker’s return by Alan Dean Foster, because this is the very first companion novel to Star Wars from 1978, which did not fit smoothly into the old Expanded Universe and certainly should not be part of the new canon, but here in the style “You can read it in“is referenced.

What was Babu Frik saying at any time? What language is he is speaking?
«Droid is ready!» is pretty much the only comprehensible thing Babu says. He’s an Anzellan, so presumably he’s speaking Anzellan.

Who’ll govern the galaxy?
The First Order wiped out most of the New Republic, and now the First Order has been defeated. It’ll take a while to fill that power vacuum — maybe a galactic government isn’t the way forward after all.
What happened to Ahsoka Tano?
We last saw Ahsoka — Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan from The Clone Wars — in a post-Return of the Jedi epilogue following the final episode of the CGI animated series Rebels. However, hearing her voice among the dead Jedi who helped Rey suggests she became one with the Force in intervening years. We’ll probably find out what happened to her in an upcoming CGI animated series.
Ahsoka Tano’s fate remains a mystery.
Disney
Why did they hire a Hobbit to take all of Rose’s lines? She was standing right there!
Lord of the Rings actor Dominic Monaghan plays Resistance soldier Beaumont Kin, a guy who doesn’t get much to do and regularly appears in scenes with Rose. She gets even less to do, which is a pity. Much as we love Monaghan, Rose could easily have been given Beaumont’s dialogue.
When did General Hux become a spy?
He spent much of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi sneering at Kylo Ren, but we never got the sense that he’d betray the First Order. This seems like a plot point the CGI animated series Resistance could’ve expanded on, but it didn’t. The novelization doesn’t give us any additional details either.
Why is Kylo Ren Not Called Darth?
As we have already established, Kylo Ren was neither a Jedi nor a full-blown Sith. Therefore, he never became a Sith Lord and thus never gained the title that went with it, “Darth.”
He was trained by a biologically engineered being known as Snoke. Snoke was not a Sith Lord in his own right, but he was an incredible warrior for the dark side.
Given how closely Snoke’s training of Kylo mimics that of the First Order, it’s no surprise that Darth Sidious was the mastermind behind Snoke and how he trained Kylo.
WE FINALLY LEARN HOW SNOKE TRAINS KYLO (CANON) — Star Wars Explained
Because they imparted so much knowledge of the older Sith Order to Kylo Ren, his fighting style and philosophies mirrored those of the Sith. Even his lightsaber resembled that of the First Order.
Not having the epithet of “Darth” did not hold Kylo Ren back in the slightest. He still went on to become a powerful warlord for the dark side.
Romance
What did Finn want to say to Rey?
It wasn’t «I love you,» actor John Boyega confirmed in a tweet Monday, even though Finn certainly had a crush on Rey in The Force Awakens (she only seemed to consider him a friend).
J.J. Abrams reportedly confirmed that Finn actually wanted to tell Rey that he was Force-sensitive. During the Battle of Exegol, Finn gets a «feeling» that tells him which Star Destroyer is broadcasting the control signal and senses Rey’s death.
He was also really skilled with a lightsaber back in The Force Awakens, when he briefly held his own against Kylo Ren. That might’ve been partially a result of his training as a Stormtrooper though.
Who is Finn really supposed to end up with romantically? Rose? Jannah? Poe?
Rose kisses Finn during the Battle of Crait in The Last Jedi, but The Rise of Skywalker doesn’t give us a sense that they’re an item. Maybe they realized that they wouldn’t be a great couple?
Finn hardly knows Jannah — their bond seemed to be mostly based on the fact that they were former Stormtroopers who realized they weren’t wild about murdered innocent people and ditched the First Order.
Poe and Finn have a bit of a tumultuous relationship in The Rise of Skywalker. Perhaps they’re struggling to accept their feelings for each other? The novelization doesn’t spend much time on Finn — he refers to Rose as a «friend» and that’s about it.
Ben Solo has a moment of love before the end.
Disney
Why couldn’t they give Ben and Rey a happy ending? They’ve suffered enough. Let them be happy.
At last they got that one (slightly awkward) kiss. Reylo forever.
Kylo Ren’s inadequacy is what makes him a great villain
Image used with permission by copyright holder
The most common knock by fans and critics against The Force Awakens is that it’s less of a follow-up to Return of the Jedi or a new beginning for Star Wars as a whole than it is a remake of A New Hope. Reverence for the original Star Wars seeps through every pore of J.J. Abrams’ reboot, but it’s hard to deny that it feels a bit like a Greatest Hits album. That may not do any favors for the new heroic trio Rey, Finn, and Poe, but in the case of the new film’s villain, the fact that Kylo Ren cannot escape being viewed as “the new Darth Vader” is actually built into the text.
Rey may be a fan of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, but she isn’t hung up on being the galaxy’s next great hero. Kylo Ren, on the other hand, has plainly modeled himself after his grandfather and attempted to claim his legacy, but it’s not working out for him. The Darth Vader we see in A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back (and, to a lesser extent, Return of the Jedi) is irrepressible and self-possessed. To fail Darth Vader is to invite death, and the act of killing you won’t even raise his heart rate. In The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren aches to exert this kind of authority, but he doesn’t have it in him. When things don’t go his way, he vents his frustration by trashing equipment with a lightsaber, a display of bluster with no real consequences. It takes murdering his father, Han Solo, to give him the confidence to go full-bore evil, and that confidence dissolves mere minutes later when untrained Jedi potential Rey fights him to a stalemate.
This allows us to spend the following film, The Last Jedi, watching Ben Solo complete his transformation into Kylo Ren. Humiliated by his failure at Starkiller Base, Kylo Ren doubles down on his violence and aggression in a desperate attempt to prove that he can be taken seriously. He steps out of Vader’s shadow, smashing his off-brand helmet, blasting his dear mother Leia Organa into open space, and slaying his master, Snoke. He no longer has any illusions about becoming the stoic, faceless enforcer of the new Empire. He becomes his own man, a rageful tyrant who will burn the galaxy down if it suits him. Being “the next Vader” no longer interests him; He wants to be the first Kylo Ren, a new kind of terror who is easier to provoke but harder to predict. This is a more interesting journey than Vader — or his alter ego of Anakin Skywalker — travels throughout the entire saga.
Lightsabers
Where is Luke’s green lightsaber?
Luke’s second lightsaber was glimpsed in flashback during The Last Jedi, the shameful moment when he instinctively activated it after sensing the dark side in Ben Solo. It’s probably still in his hut on Ahch-To — hopefully no curious porgs happen upon it.
Where did Rey get the yellow kyber crystal for her new lightsaber?
Ilum, the planet where most members of the Jedi Order found their kyber crystals, was heavily implied to have become Starkiller Base in the video game Jedi: Fallen Order — so it’s been destroyed. Rey must have found another planet with the rare crystals, perhaps through the ancient Jedi texts.
The novelization notes that she was working on a new lightsaber prior to the events of The Rise of Skywalker, and the parts are on her workbench on Ajan Kloss.
Conclusion
Kylo Ren’s initial reaction to Luke Skywalker trying to kill him is justified. Not only was his uncle the one who was supposed to protect him, but Luke’s instinct to murder Ren was in direct violation of the Jedi Code.
Kylo Ren saw the rules he was taught to never stray from being blatantly disregarded. As one might expect, this caused him to lose faith in the Jedi Order and the light side.
Therefore, he unsurprisingly switched over to the dark side, where he was welcomed with open arms.
Even though Ren was theoretically trained by Darth Sidious through his proxy, Supreme Leader Snoke, he was never officially a Sith. By extension, he could not carry the title of “Darth”.
The Knights of Ren are Finally EXPLAINED! — Who Are The Knights of Ren?
Yet, Ren had all the talent and knowledge to have become a dark lord if he had been accepted into the Order. Instead, Kylo Ren was a part of a new organization on the dark side, known as The Knights of Ren.

Knights of the Old Republic .
Is Kylo Ren a Sith or a Dark Jedi?
Contrary to popular belief, Kylo Ren isn’t exactly a Sith. He fell into a newer generation of dark warriors who embraced the dark side.
Although Kylo Ren has some sort of Sith affiliation, it is an unsustainable connection. For one, Ren was trained in the way of the dark side but not necessarily the way of the Sith.
What’s more, he was trained by Supreme Leader Snoke, who was not a Sith himself. This is despite the fact that Snoke was created and controlled by Darth Sidious. Therefore, Ren could be considered more of a Dark Jedi.
But what exactly is a Dark Jedi?
Dark Jedi Explained
Well, a Dark Jedi, also known as a Fallen Jedi, is a Force-sensitive who has chosen to reject the Jedi and, by extension, the light side of the Force. They choose to follow the dark side.
Kylo Ren fell into this category of being a former light-side user who made the switch to the dark side. Ergo, on paper, he was certainly a Dark Jedi.
